Houthis turn to students after facing a significant challenge in recruitment

Houthis are facing a significant decline in recruitment among young people and students to join their ranks, despite intense recruitment campaigns launched by the militias to mobilize and rally support, with expectations of imminent decisive battles.

In an attempt to lure young people to join their ranks, sources told Khabar Agency that the Houthis have started distributing military numbers to high school students, with enticing promises of receiving a salary within just twenty days. However, despite these promises, the response has been weak, reflecting an increasing awareness of the risks of joining the fighting and hesitancy to join the Houthi militias to defend their destructive project, which poses a threat to the Yemeni people and state.

The militias are trying to attract young people in various ways, including organizing events in schools, intensive meetings with school principals and education centers in the directorates, and submitting lists of students, but to no avail. Local sources said

Young people, students, and their families have become more cautious of the militia's attempts to recruit their children, especially after the increasing casualties and injuries among young recruits. The sources added.

Houthis are suffering from a shortage of fighters due to high rates of desertion from the fronts and increasing popular rejection of joining their ranks, putting the militias in a difficult position as battles continue on several fronts.
