Iran-backed Houthis kill three African migrants in Yemen's Sanaa

Three African migrants were killed and others were injured in a bloody day in the Yemeni capital of Sanaa, after Houthis dispersed a protest by dozens of Africans using live ammunition.

Local residents told Khabar Agency that dozens of African migrants, who were brought to Sanaa by the Houthi militia for recruitment purposes, staged a protest two days ago inside one of the Houthi headquarters protesting against their continued detention and exploitation, confirming their refusal to stay in the headquarters located near the Martyrs' Mosque next to the Ministry of Defense headquarters.

According to residents' testimonies, Houthis brought armed elements to forcefully disperse the protest, which resulted in the killing of three of the African protesters and the injury of others with varying degrees of injuries.

This comes amidst widespread recruitment operations carried out by the Iran-backed militia against African migrants, who are lured or forcibly detained and forced to fight alongside the Houthis.

Houthis exploit the difficult living conditions of African migrants and the circumstances of their smuggling into Yemen in forced recruitment operations.

Previous human rights reports revealed that many migrants have been arrested and detained in camps run by the Houthis, where they are subjected to psychological and financial pressures to force them to join the militia or carry out forced labor in areas controlled by the group.
