The number of people affected by the floods in Yemen increased to more than 36,000 families

The number of families affected by the recent floods in Yemen has risen to more than 36,000 families across the country, most of them are displaced, the United Nations reported.

The heavy rains and widespread floods that Yemen witnessed during the period from mid-July to mid-August led to “the destruction of property and livelihoods, and damage to vital infrastructure such as roads, and caused loss of life in some areas,” the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said in Yemen.

Humanitarian partners estimate that 36,205 families have been affected by floods across the country, the majority in displacement sites and camps, where shelters, livelihoods and water sources have been affected, the report added.
